the Waiter Minute EP - Seth Sentry

Look out Victoria, a legend is being born in Aussie Hip Hop. Seth Sentry's highly-anticipated debut ‘the Waiter Minute EP‘ from November 08 has already caught a lot of positive attention and with plans for a full-length due in early 09, Seth has a busy year ahead of him. His debut EP is truly a worth while buy for any fan of Aussie Hip Hop, this five track EP has a wide variety of styles unique to Seth. With a bit of humour and some clever lyrics you really get a great insight into the life experiences of this 25 year old rapper from Melbourne. With tracks that touch on topics of love for a good breakfast, the war we don’t expect, or leaving your ex and catching the next train out of there, Seth combines a mix of great story telling with a personal touch. Backing the great lyrics on every track are banging beats to get you into the mood of the song, with marching drums and the additional vocals of Jane Bunn on the track ‘Strange’, this CD will keep you listening time and time again. My personal pick of this album would definitely be a ‘Warm Winter’, like all the rest of the EP it’s a great mix of beats and lyrics. If you haven’t grabbed yourself a copy, you should definitely swing by Seth’s OZRadio or Myspace page for details on how to get your self a copy of this already epic debut EP. Seth Sentry will be giving us some time in the next issue to talk about Seth’s EP and his journey in Hip Hop.

Sharon Lane Day of Support

Buddy Knox special guest at charity event

Many of you are aware of the SHARON LANE story – the talented Dubbo singer/songwriter who almost three years ago underwent surgery for a brain tumour, and came out of the crisis with a new lease of life, and ultimately her celebratory album Second Chance.

Sharon’s story was well documented, particularly through the R.P.A. and the Where Are They Now Television series and other media.

But now, following a succession of strong radio singles, glowing reviews for her album, a Deadly Award, a Victorian & National Country Music Award and other notable accolades, Sharon has received the crushing news that she has two more tumours and heads back to R.P.A. for surgery on 23 July.

Sharon is a mum, a wife, a mentor and motivator, supporting charity events, fundraisers, work shops for young artists and talking to schools.

Sharon now needs our support with the family again facing considerable medical costs at this fragile time.

To support Sharon and her family a ‘Day of Support’, will be held on Sunday 12th July 2009 in the Entertainment Lounge of the Dubbo RSL Club Resort. The ‘Day of Support’, will commence from 12 noon with performances by ‘The Buddy Knox Blues band’, and various artists along with auctions and raffles. Entry fee is Adults $5 Families $15.

At this tough time for Sharon, we now ask for your support by contributing to the day in the form of Goods or Services that may be raffled or auctioned on the day.

For more information please ring Tony Lane (0429 949 682) or Anne Mills (0427 892 349)

All goods should be sent direct to Bluescope Lysaght @ 35 Cobbora Rd, Dubbo NSW 2830 or contact Tony Lane for pick-up.

The Nice Folk started as a project for Lax Charisma & Dave Mutton to make a few extra bucks under the pretence that they were “nice” and that they played folk music. It didn’t take long for the local cafes to realise that the humble duo (along with cheesy drum machine accompaniment) were not quite a family orientated folk act and that they weren’t exactly “nice”.

Thier album launch  'Devils At My Door' this Sunday will be held at 'The Lansdowne' (Sydney) It will also feature the likes of, Billy Goat & The Mongrels, Kitty In The Well and Ye Luddites.

If you haven't already seen them live, then maybe you should this Sunday it's Free Entry!

Lawrence Leung’s - Choose Your Own Adventure - NEW
SRP: $29.95 2-Disc Set

What did you want to be when you were a kid? Australian comedian and all round nice guy Lawrence Leung sets off on the adventures of a lifetime as he tries - in real life - to achieve the dreams he had for himself as a child.

Lawrence Leung’s Choose Your Own Adventure is an imaginative documentary/comedy/adventure series where the innocence of childhood ambition clashes with the realities of adulthood resulting in unexpected consequences that are hair-raising, heart-warming and hilarious. It's about finding out who we are, how we've changed, and what we can be.

Screened on ABC1 from April 2009, the series has garnered a huge following across the country…and he has single-handedly brought back the Rubiks Cube! Could Lawrence Leung be the new Chris Lilley?

In each episode, Lawrence chooses an adventure he imagined having as a boy. Can he be a real man in a hardcore wrestling ring? Can he beat the world’s fastest cube speedsolvers in an underground Fight Club? Can he find MacGyver in Los Angelese? If he can breakdance will he prove he is cool? Can he survive a rap battle on the mean streets of LA or rock out on MTV? And will he find true love…

Guided by mentors, and scrutinised by his loving but concerned parents (Lawrence’s real mum and dad), Lawrence tries to make his naïve dream come true as an adult. In the process, he meets and learns from the people who are living his dreams, and their own.

Some of the special guests, mentors and childhood heroes who help Lawrence achieve his dreams include breakdance pioneer Shabba Doo (Breakin’ and Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo), LA’s fastest rapper Rifleman; 80s pop star Tiffany (I Think We’re Alone Now); saxman Kirk Pengilly (INXS), Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson (Australian Idol); rock god Tim Rogers (You Am I); rock ‘n roll wrestler The Ox; pick-up gurus Ross Jeffries (creator of ‘Speed Seduction’); Savoy (Founder and President ‘Love Systems’); Kerry O’Brien (7.30 Report); daredevils and world record holders The Space Cowboy and The Arrow Catcher; and Australian Rubik’s Cube champion Jasmine Lee.

There are over two hours of truly hilarious special features including deleted scenes, karaoke clip, music video & most importantly, Lawrence's step-by-step "How to solve the Rubik's Cube tutorial".
